The Subtly of Progress

I’m impatient. You’re impatient. We want to start doing something and immediately have it be the best thing that’s ever been done, no matter how firmly the logical parts of our brains tell us that isn’t going to happen.

I looked up one day and I had written 20 blog posts. I looked up one day and I had written 20,000 words in my novel. For me, that’s impressive progress.

Logically, I know this is how life works. You do something daily, weekly, or even monthly, and the results pile up. Even so, I’m amazed every time.

There is so much advice out there on how to do any given thing the right way, the best way, and/or the smart way. It’s taken me 26 years, but I’m starting to realize the only way to do something, is to do it. And maybe, initially, you do it the wrong, worst, and dumbest way, but the only thing that matters is that you do it.

Invest in progress daily. You won’t regret it.
